Since eBay banned the sale of digital products in their auctions, many marketers have abandoned eBay as a source of income. Other factors to this abandoning of eBay included some policy and fee changes which were heavily opposed. However, those who were willing to stick with eBay found that is was still quite possible to make money on eBay.

For instance, while it is no longer allowed to sell digital products on eBay, but smart sellers found a way around it. What they did was to put one or more digital products on a CD or DVD and physically shipped it out to customers. In addition to having gotten around the ban on digital products, sellers were able to capitalize on the fact that physical products have a greater perceived value than digital products.

To save time from having to package, label, and ship every CD or DVD you sell, the best thing to do is to use a fulfillment company. These companies will basically package your CD or DVD up with a cover that you provide and they’ll ship it out to your customers for a flat fee. For each disc that you sell, you could easily make a few dollars in profit.

If you want to get creative, you could add bonuses or upsells onto the disc that your customers are getting. Adding unannounced bonuses will create value and make your customer happy. You could try sending them to a website where they could buy additional products from you. Better yet, you could send them to a squeeze page where, upon submitting their opt-in forum, would enter your email list. From there, you would be able to sell as many digital products to them as you pleased.

Another way of making money on eBay is to enter the dropshipping business. Instead of keeping stock or selling something that you own, doing dropshipping will allow you to sell products which belong to someone else, kind of like affiliate marketing. It can be tricky to find a reliable dropshipping company, but once you do, the selling process is easy. All you need to do is create a listing on eBay for one of the dropshipper’s products and wait for it to sell. Once it does, you’ll need to submit the order to the dropshipper. The great thing about this business model is that it doesn’t cost you any money out of your pocket. You only pay the dropshipping company’s cut out of the proceeds of the sale.

You can virtually sell anything through a dropshipping company on eBay. You’ll find companies that sell small items like cell phone accessories all the way up to large items such as pool tables. Since you are paid a cut of each sale, selling larger items would give you a larger profit margin. However, smaller items are more in demand, so you will probably sell more of them. No matter what you choose to sell, make sure you do the necessary research in order to find a reliable company to work with.

You need to know the basics of selling before you start buying things in bulk to sell on eBay. Once you are well versed, you can start selling more. Do so by selling electronics, used goods, old books, clothing, gifts that you never opened, and the list goes on and on. Your first experience will be invaluable, you also tend not to risk that big a capital or make unnecessary investment beyond minimal eBay fees.

You have to take note that almost anything under the sun can be sold on eBay. The list is long and by the thousands. If you have old items that are still in good working condition, like let us say, an old toy chest or an antique table. Said items are sellable on eBay. You will be surprised at the result the first time you post your goods online. There are a lot of people who are into antiquities and not just the new things.

So what to sell on eBay? Things like Collectible cards (baseball, basketball, etc.), Shoes, Bags, Kitchen Wares, Toiletries, Computers, Handheld games, Game consoles, the list goes on and on. No matter what item you sell on eBay, the most important thing you ensure that whatever you are selling is still in good working condition.

Going back to the question, what to sell in eBay is now a big question. Because this time, you need to be sure that you intend to sell is what your market wants, willing to spend money on and is actively buying otherwise your goods will be stock up and therefore becomes a waste investment.

Before you pursue, what you want to do is choose a product then research the product’s demand. The product you choose can either be something that you are expert of or something that you know is in demand or something that has low number of supplies but with a hungry market. There are a lot ways to find out and that is basically through research. But going through the process can be daunting because every product seems to be a potential product. 10 Tips for Increasing Your eBay Response Rate and Sales

So you’ve got the buyer in front of your auction, and they’ve read the description. They’re must be interested, or they wouldn’t be looking… but just how can you push them over that line and make them leave a bid? Read on for some tips.

Improve your picture: In all that description writing, you might have missed the vital importance of your item’s picture. A picture with bad lighting or an intrusive background looks amateurish and won’t make anyone want to buy from you.

Add an About Me page: You’ll be surprised how much you can reassure bidders just by creating an About Me page and putting a little bit about yourself on your business on there. You can also have a few special offers there for people who bother to look at the page, and let people subscribe to your mailing list so that you can email them updates.

Use SquareTrade: Signing up at SquareTrade and displaying their logo on your auctions shows that you are committed to have them resolve any disputes that arise. You always see this on PowerSellers auctions – it makes you look more professional.

Write terms and conditions: Have the ‘small print’ clearly visible on all your auctions, giving details of things like shipping times and prices, your refund policy, and any other business practices you might have. This helps build confidence with buyers.

Show off your feedback: Copy and paste a selection of the feedback comments you’re most proud of to each item’s description page, instead of making bidders go and look for it. If you have 100 percent positive feedback, be sure to write that on every auction too.

Add NR to your titles: If you have extra space in a title, put ‘NR’ (no reserve) on the end. Bidders prefer auctions that don’t have a reserve price, and doing this lets them see that yours don’t.

Benefits not features: Make sure your description focuses on the benefits that your item can give to the customer, not just its features. This is a classic sales technique. If you have trouble with this, remember: ‘cheap’ is a feature, ‘save money’ is a benefit.

List more items: If you want more people to respond to your items, then list more items! You might find you have better like listing items at the same time, instead of one-by-one. There’s no need to use a Dutch auction – you can just keep two or three auctions going at once for an item you have more than one of in stock.

Accept unusual payment methods: To reach those last few buyers, accept payment methods that many sellers don’t, like cheques.

Buy some upgrades: The best upgrade is the most expensive one, which makes your item appear first in search results. In crowded categories, you might find that this is worth the money.

Once you’ve got some buyers, you want to keep them coming back to you. The next email will show you how to turn one-time buyers into long-term customers.
